Information on Coronavirus – Covid-19

Faced with the coronavirus - Covid-19 crisis, the services of the State and of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France in Jamaica in particular, are fully mobilized.

To prevent the spread of the virus, the recommendations of the local health authorities must be followed.

As of March 12th, the Jamaican government has imposed restrictions on travellers who have visited France within fourteen days prior to their arrival in Jamaica.

  • Jamaican nationals and non-Jamaican nationals who have permanent residency or marriage exemption in Jamaica will have landing privileges but will be subject to health assessment and quarantine.
  • Non-Jamaicans who do not have permanent residency or marriage exemption in Jamaica will not be granted landing privileges at any of the country’s ports of entry.

In addition, you will find bellow some key preventing actions for limiting the spread of viruses:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often or use alcohol-based sanitiser gel
  • Disinfect work surfaces regularly
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve when you cough our sneeze
  • Use single-use tissues
  • Do not shake hands or greet people with kisses on the cheek
  • If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection (fever, feverish feeling, cough, difficulty breathing) in an area or 14 days after you returned from an area where the virus is spreading, please call the local authorities
